Brinkman Climate and Ecotrust Canada led a South Korean delegation on a site visit to view the Cheakamus Community Forest and learn about its offset project. Our two organizations developed the Improved Forest Management project on behalf of the Community Forest, enabling ecosystem-based management forestry that keeps an additional 10,000 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere every year. The delegation was made up of individuals from the South Korean Ministry of Forests and the Green Promotion Agency. It was a great opportunity for these delegates to see what BC’s carbon market has developed as they shape their own Emissions Trading System.

We’re excited to see the South Korean cap and trade system move forward, and to opportunities for collaboration in the future.
