Brinkman Climate Attends New York Climate Week: Highlights and Insights
By Joseph Pallant, Brinkman Climate Manager
Last week, hundreds of thousands of passionate earth advocates flooded the streets of Manhattan in the Peoples Climate March: a unified groundswell for climate action at the UN Climate Summit. I travelled to New York for Climate Week to lend a voice, collaborate, and build opportunities for Brinkman Climate.
Some highlights of the week:
Speaking with Christiana Figueres, (with me in picture) Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) about momentum towards a legally binding, universal treaty on climate action in Paris December 2015.
Attending the invitation-only International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) and International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP) High Level Dialogue on Carbon Pricing. Here is a great video summary of event: https://icapcarbonaction.com/activities/ny-high-level-dialogue
Joining the IETA Carbon Forum North America and reconnecting with climate business leaders that we’ve been working with over the last decade.
The inspiration gained by seeing State, Provincial and Regional Governments making moves toward adopting smart climate change regulations, where their national governments could not.
The feeling of optimism returning to the climate file is emboldening, as we continue our ecosystem preservation work, driven to the global imperative to beat climate change.
